Member of the Chen Xiao Wang World Tai Chi Chuan Association and the Tai Chi Union for Great Britain.
I have been learning Tai Chi since the 90s. In the mid-noughties I went to some workshops with Ronnie Robinson in Glasgow to learn the Chen Man Ching form and some Chi Kung. On Ronnie’s advice I went to more local lessons with John Bolwell in Oldham and Rochdale.
John introduced me to weapon forms including double sword and double broadsword styles as well as improving my 24 Step and general techniques. My forms had been predominantly Yang Style until I started to learn Chen Style from Ben Milton in Bristol in 2006.
Since then I have trained with Ben who is an Indoor Student of Chen
Tai Chi with Andy Fisher
Xiao Wang, the standard bearer of Chen family Taichichuan, and I have attended the Chen Xiao Wang seminars in Bristol or recently at Kam Lau’s in Liverpool. My first Chen form with Ben was Chen Shuang Dao, double broadswords.
In 2010 I was fortunate to get to Chen Village in Henan Province China with Ben for a week to train there with Chen Xiao Wang, pictures on www.bristoltaichi.com
My local teacher Alan McDonnell, who I have trained with since 2008, is skilled in many styles and forms and teaches a selection of them such as contemporary Yang Style 24 Step and 32 Step Sword as well as Huleijia, Sun Style and Chen Style.
I still have much to learn and practice for myself but have now taken the step to become a teacher. I need to be able to assist in local classes and help to promote the benefits and enjoyment of this unique experience.
